Kazakhstan Travel Guides and Tips
Kazakhstan is a country in Central Asia, the largest landlocked country in the world. Most of the territory is covered by small hills, vast steppes and high mountains. In the west of the country is the largest inland lake in the world – the Caspian Sea. Nature and national parks are the main attraction for tourists. The most popular include Altyn Emel, Burabay or the breath-taking Charyn Canyon, where many endangered plant species are found. Tourists also like to visit the Baikonur base for space flights, which comes from the Soviet era. It is unique in its huge size and offers visitors a glimpse of real rockets. In the south of the country is the only historical monument of all Kazakhstan, which is a beautiful mausoleum of the mystic poet, Khawaja Ahmed Yasawi. Interesting Kazakh cities are Almaty and the capital Astana. This was renamed in 2019 to Nur-Sultan in honour of the outgoing president who built the city. It is interesting for its almost futuristic architecture and is still growing.
