Algeria Travel Guides and Tips

Algeria is by far the largest African state. Nearly three-quarters of the country is covered by the Sahara Desert, and most of the population is concentrated along the mountainous coast of the Mediterranean. For one century, the territory of Algeria was the colony of France, which greatly influenced the country’s culture and further development, including the language of the population. In the near past, the country was struggling with political turmoil, also known as the “Arab Spring.” So, Algeria isn’t typically a tourist destination, although it has a lot to offer. The former town of Cuicul is guarded by probably the best-preserved Roman landmarks throughout Africa. Also, worth mentioning is the city of Constantine, which is interesting in its strategic location, surrounded by a deep canyon. The Tassili and Ahaggar mountains, in turn, hide prehistoric engravings of world importance.
