A ship cruise during sunset is one of the most favourite experiences in the Island of Langkawi in Malaysia. During three-hour ride among islands, we enjoyed a delicious dinner, swimming and drinking cocktails. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who visits Langkawi because it was one of the best ship rides we have ever experienced.
What you can expect
The Sunset Dinner Cruise is provided by the company Crystal Yacht Holidays and all services were professional in all aspects. The company organizes other types of cruises and we picked the Evening cruise during sunset with dinner included.
The event started at 5 p.m. when we set off from the marina near the Resorts World Langkawi hotel. The company offers transport for free right to the resort but our hotel was nearby, so we went by ourselves. From there, we sailed to small islands situated to the south of Langkawi. There were 25 people with us on the ship including the crew. During the cruise, the friendly staff took care about us. They tried their best to provide us with maximum comfort. We came back to the marina after dusk, around 8 p.m.

As soon as we got on a catamaran, a nice young lady attended us and she explained what was ahead of us and how the cruise would be conducted. After that, she gave us drink lists saying that all drinks, with the alcoholic ones included, are totally free. In a minute, I got a gin and tonic in my hand, and the fun could start.

After an hour of the cruise, when everyone was relaxed and began to entertain themselves, the main program started. The ship slowed down so that a huge net called a “whirpool” could be lowered. The ship pulled the net behind it, so everyone could jump in it. We couldn’t imagine anything more relaxed than sitting in a net being pulled by a ship, drinking a cocktail, listening to nice music, and watching the reefs around. A few eagles, which were nesting on the surrounding islands, flew above out heads at times. Simply wonderful!

It has slowly started to prepare dinner. That ship just turned and we headed back to the mainland. Meanwhile, the cook grilled a few skewers, and in the cabin, there was literally a feast waiting for us. The dinner was served buffet-style, so everyone could scoop what he liked. There was fish, satay, roasted chicken wings, noodles, rice, potatoes, pasta salads and other salads. In short, there was plenty of food and it was all delicious. But that began to slowly dim and the sky to be coloured slightly pink.

Because it was cloudy, we were worried that we wouldn’t see the sunset. Although we could not see the sun because it was under the clouds, the sky still turned into beautiful purple and pink. When it was dark, we set off to the shore. Our attendant has said goodbye to us and thanked us for our participation. It was apparent that no one wanted to go because everyone had a great time. We certainly know that we will come back again during our next visit to the island.
